Online hearing check
One minute, three frequencies and three questions. We ask for nothing: the result is worked out in your browser and never reaches us.
Before you start
It takes a minute. We will not ask for your name, your email or your phone number: the result is worked out in your own browser and never reaches us.
- Put headphones on. On a phone speaker the result is worthless.
- Find somewhere quiet. Background noise masks the faint tones.
- Set the volume to about half, and leave it alone once the test starts.
Set your volume
A steady tone will play. Turn your device up or down until you hear it clearly but comfortably, like a quiet conversation. Once it is right, do not touch it again.
Frequency—1 of 3Tone 1
Did you hear that tone?
Answer even if you are unsure. If in doubt, say no.
Each frequency is repeated at different volumes, so you will hear the same beep several times. That is normal: it is how we find the exact point where you stop hearing it.

Why we are saying this
What happened at each tone
This is a screening check, not a full hearing test. Without a sound-treated booth and calibrated headphones, these levels are not clinical decibels. Only an assessment in the booth can tell you what you actually hear.
And one important limitation: the tone plays through both earphones at once, so this check does NOT tell one ear from the other. If you feel you hear worse on one side, book an appointment even if the result looks fine — that only shows up in the booth.
Does this sound like someone at home?
It is almost never the person who notices: it is whoever lives with them. If someone came to mind, send them this page.
