Hearing centre in Puerto de Mazarrón
Twenty-five years of our own hearing clinic in the same shop: the room itself is sound-treated, and inside it there is a sound-treated booth. Nobody gets sent somewhere else to be tested.
- Own clinic
- 25 years
- Hearing assessment
- Free, 60 minutes

What happens here
Four things, all of them inside the shop: measuring how you hear, fitting hearing aids where they are warranted, looking after them for as long as you wear them, and making custom pieces for the ear.
The hearing side of MODALENT has been running for twenty-five years. It is not a counter that appeared when hearing aids became good business.
- Full hearing assessment: an hour in the booth, eleven tests and a printed report, at no charge
- Hearing aids from several manufacturers, chosen after the test rather than before it
- Fitting and aftercare, with the programming measured inside your own ear
- Tinnitus: assessment of the noise and retraining therapy
- Custom ear protection for noise, shooting, music or motorcycling
- Custom swimming plugs, for adults and for children
What is inside the booth
For an audiogram to tell the truth, two things are needed: real silence and diagnostic equipment, not just a screening device. Here there is a room shut off from the street and clinical-grade equipment; this is what is inside.
- A sound-treated booth: without one the result depends on whether a scooter went past
- A diagnostic audiometer, the kind that makes eleven tests possible rather than one
- A tympanometer, which measures how the eardrum moves and takes seconds
- A hearing aid analyser: a test bench for the device itself
- Real-ear measurement: what actually reaches your eardrum, not what the maker claims
- Sound environment simulation: a restaurant or the beach, played inside the booth
What multi-brand actually means
We work with the GN group (Beltone, ReSound and Interton), the Demant group (Oticon and Bernafon) and Phonak. The practical consequence is that the choice is made after we have seen your audiogram, not before.
And if nothing we carry suits your loss, finding the answer is our job, not yours.
In a single-brand centre the catalogue is settled before you walk through the door. If your loss suits what is on the shelf, fine. If it does not, you are fitted with what is on the shelf anyway.
We work with
- Beltone
- Bernafon
- Phonak
If your hearing aids came from somewhere else
Bring them in. We check them, clean them, change filters and tubing and run them through the analyser, whatever the make and whether you bought them in Mazarrón, in Manchester or in Hamburg.
There is one limit and we say so before touching anything: if the manufacturer does not share its fitting software, we can measure and maintain them but not readjust them.
In your own language, which here is not a courtesy
We work in English, German and Spanish. In a speech understanding test the language is part of the measurement: if you are tested with words that are not yours, the score means nothing.
Common questions
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No. You can book directly. If something comes up during the assessment that needs medical judgement, we refer you with a written report.
What does the first visit cost?
Nothing. The full hearing assessment is free and ends with the report in your hand, whether you buy anything that day or not.
Do you only sell one brand?
No. We work with the GN group (Beltone, ReSound and Interton), the Demant group (Oticon and Bernafon) and Phonak. Which one we suggest depends on your audiogram, on the shape of your ear canal and on what you can handle comfortably. And if none of it suits you, we look outside our range.
Can I bring someone with me?
Please do. Whoever lives with you notices things you do not, and it helps to have a second person hearing the explanation. Only you go in the booth; the rest of the visit is together.
